Who we are
Good Commons is a collective run by three equal partners: IMS, JamiiAfrica, and Splice. The controller responsible for your personal data is IMS. The IMS address is VOX House, Lyngbyvej 100, Copenhagen 2100, Denmark. You can reach us at hello@goodcommons.world.
What we collect
When you join the community: your name, your email address, and what you tell us about what you do.
When you register for an event: your name, your email address, and the answers you give on the registration form.
When you write to us: your message and your email address.
When you visit the website: whatever the website platform records by default, such as pages visited.
Why we use it, and on what basis
To send you the Good Commons newsletter. This covers events, case studies, and ideas. We do this with your consent, which you give when you sign up.
To reply to you personally. When you join, we write to you ourselves and ask what you are building or supporting. We do this because it is in our legitimate interest to understand who we serve.
To run an event you registered for. We use your details to manage the event and to contact you about it, on the basis of our legitimate interest in running it.
We do not sell your details. We do not use them for anything else without asking you first.
Who handles it for us
We use these services to run the website, collect forms, and send email: Squarespace, Google (for form responses stored in a spreadsheet), Zapier, EmailOctopus, and Proton. They process your data on our behalf. Some of them may process it outside the European Economic Area, using the safeguards the law requires.
How long we keep it
Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your details.
Event registrations: 12 months after the event, unless you ask us to remove it sooner.
Emails to us: as long as we need them to answer you, and for no longer than necessary.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, limit how we use it, or send it to you in a portable form. You can object to how we use it, and you can withdraw your consent at any time. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link, and you can also write to hello@goodcommons.world. If you believe we have handled your data badly, you can complain to your national data protection authority.
Changes
If we change this notice, we will update the date at the top.
